Rethinking urban transport

Our goal is to help cities find sustainable transport solutions, developing and sharing knowledge and real-time data to improve the lives of their citizens.

Managing Micromobility

Operating fleets of light vehicles in 200+ cities has given us a unique understanding of the importance of strong local regulations. Micromobility in cities can be handled in a couple of different ways.

Street rental fees for micromobility

Provides cities with extra revenue — for infrastructure improvements or other transportation initiatives.
Prevents operators from placing too many vehicles on the street, minimising costs.
Encourages operators to take measures that result in maximum vehicle usage.
Frees up public space by reducing idle electric scooters and bikes.

Authorisations for private operators

As the largest micromobility operator in Europe, we’re happy to share our unique insights to help you draft effective micromobility regulation for your city.

Tools to reshape city transport

E-scooters

E-scooter use is transforming urban environments by reducing CO2 emissions, congestion, and pollution. As the largest European scooter operator, we’re focused on delivering safe and sustainable micromobility operations. Scooters complement public transport and help riders go about their daily tasks in a more sustainable way. In many major European cities more than 30% of Bolt scooter trips begin and end within 100 metres of a public transport stop.

E-bikes

Bolt e-bikes are a quick and convenient way to move around cities. Mostly built from easily recyclable materials like aluminium, steel, and plastic, Bolt’s electric bicycles are a more environmentally-friendly mode of transport. Similarly to scooters, we encourage responsible usage of our e-bikes, and with our Safety Toolkit all of our electric bikes are limited to a speed of 25 km/h. We also recommend that riders wear a helmet.

Car sharing

Personal cars take up a lot of space in our cities. On-demand cars can solve this problem while still providing convenience when needed. Bolt Drive is a safe, convenient, and affordable solution that offers car-sharing of different vehicles such as electric cars, minivans, or SUVs. Users receive all the advantages of owning a car without needing to buy one.

Multimodal travel

Multimodal travel, which combines different modes of transport, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Bolt offers an integrated multimodal solution with all mobility services combined in a single app. You can also find Bolt's services on a number of European MaaS applications. Users can reserve a Bolt Drive car and get to it using our electric scooters or e-bikes without needing to place multiple orders or change payment methods.

Walking

Nothing can replace the simplicity and health benefits of walking. It's the most environmentally friendly way to get around, of course! To make walking even more enjoyable, we've taken significant steps to integrate safety features into our products, such as: An ambient noise feature that emits a sound in areas with high footfall. This ensures that pedestrians can hear approaching e-scooters, and it is especially beneficial for people with visual impairments. Our AI-driven pavement detection system that prevents scooters from being ridden or parked on a pavement and that leaves more space for pedestrians.

Charging Docks

Our scooter charging docks help to further reduce our operational CO2 footprint, cutting out the need for operations teams to collect low-battery scooters using vans or cargo bikes. Thanks to these docks, we’ve already eliminated 50-60 battery swap operations per week in Tallinn, Estonia. They encourage better parking habits and contribute to the overall cleanliness of the cityscape.

Safety as a priority

Unique safety features

Innovative safety features, like our patented tandem riding prevention system, and a cognitive reaction test help to prevent riding under the influence of alcohol or other substances and raise awareness of its dangers.

Educating riders

We encourage responsible usage of e-vehicles to ensure the safety of riders and the wider public. Our Safety Toolkit allows riders to use a Beginner Mode, learn about local rules, and read safety instructions and tips.

Parking responsibly

We educate our users to park responsibly and encourage them to report bad examples they see on the streets. Additionally, our AI technology detects parking violations and shows riders how to park their scooters safely.

Sustainability

Our Sustainability Policy is part of Bolt’s on-going commitment to reduce the environmental footprint of our products.

Sustainable operations

Sustainable practices power our processes. Using electric vehicles for internal operations, and renewable energy in our warehouses and offices are just two examples. We’re committed to bringing green transport options to cities and offsetting our CO2 emissions.

Educating riders

We’re proud to be ISO 14001:2015 certified. We’re committed to enhancing our environmental management system, putting in place effective procedures that minimise our environmental impact.

The highest environmental standards

We actively work to reduce the number of short car trips in cities by encouraging the use of greener methods. We also incentivise users to opt for these modes through in-app messages and promotions, resulting in a up to 200% rise in e-scooter use.
